Why is there water pooling inside my window frame?
Almost always blocked weep holes, not a failed window. Every modern window is designed to let a certain amount of water into the frame — driven rain gets past the sash, and that is expected. Small slots at the bottom of the exterior frame, called weep holes, drain it back out. When debris blocks them the water has nowhere to go, so it sits against the sash and the sill. Left through a winter that is how frames rot, seals fail, and stains appear on interior trim. Clearing them takes seconds per window, requires no parts, and almost nobody does it.

This is worth being clear about: it is a drainage problem, not a glass problem, and no amount of window cleaning addresses it. That is exactly why it is worth knowing about — homeowners pay for cleanings for years while the actual damage mechanism goes untouched. Clearing weep holes is fast and free of parts, and it is the single most consequential maintenance item on a window. If the frame has already gone soft, that is repair or replacement territory, and no cleaning or clearing reverses it.
Weep holes are deliberately small, which makes them easy to block. A single wad of cottonwood cotton, a pine needle, an insect nest, or compacted dust and grit is enough.

Clear them with a vacuum crevice tool, a piece of stiff wire, or compressed air — gently, because forcing something rigid into the channel can damage the drainage path. Then pour a small amount of water into the bottom track and watch: it should exit the weep holes within a few seconds. If it does not, the blockage is deeper in the channel. If your windows have exterior flaps, check that they swing freely rather than being painted or stuck shut.
Removing it once is half the job. This is the half that determines whether you pay for it again next year.

Pour a cup of water into the bottom track from inside and watch the exterior frame. It should exit within a few seconds. If nothing comes out, or it seeps slowly, the channel is blocked.
Once the material has gone soft it is a repair rather than a maintenance question, and clearing the weep holes at that point stops it getting worse but does not reverse it. Depending on the frame material, that is a carpentry repair or a sash replacement. Getting the drainage working first is still the right immediate step, because otherwise the repair fails the same way.
